I decided on 2.5" for my 20v with turbo upgrades in mind. It won't choke it up until 400 horse and be much more liveable
Im eventually going to have a 3" down pipe made. Most likely next summer. I was told to open it up from the advice of Scubadave who had a very similar setup to mine. If it does drone, I'll throw a resonator underneath if it is bad. My truck has dual 2.5", balance pipe, the whole shebang. WITH the most aggressive, loudest street mufflers Spintech makes. Very little noticable drone when cruising, nice idle, and holy freaking hell when on it. This muffler for the car should minus the effects of the bigger pipe as far as noise goes

True that. I understand you like that brand of muffler I hear ya.
I meant as more of a performance standpoint, if it ever gets a header/ turbo setup and efi you'll be glad 3" is on it. In stock and chipped form there is no need for 3" pipes behind a k24 or k26. Sure will sound good though
Yeah it'll get EFI soon enough. Winter is here so I have to focus more on the car being a DD now. No more modifications!!! I've done enough over the last 7 months. It's alot more than stock too.
17psi, 34mm exhaust valves, ported head/manifolds, good free flowing intake. And that Ben Swann chip which might be getting switched out for a natrix

I think the question should be why not go 3"? If you are building a complete exhaust for a car that is more than just a stock DD then its a no brainer. this aint no corolla.

What if the corolla had shit subs, a giant useless wing, body damage, primered black hood, and a 3" exhaust dumped into a 5" folger's coffee can muffler?

I don't know if I would jump that far right away. Start at 2 and see how it acts.

2.5" is a restriction even at 300hp. For a stock 3b or Chipped MC, 2.5" is really the minimum. I noticed a noticable improvement in spooling on my 5ktq with 3" Exhaust. The 91' 200 had dual pipes for a reason, FLOW. I dont recall the exact numbers but dual 2.5" has more flow capability than a single 3". Actually, dual 2.25" Pipes are pretty close to a single 3". Most of the stuff I've read puts a single 2.5" System at around 225 - 250hp max. Sure, you can get more power out of it, but your losing out on available power to do so. Especially with a Turbo Engine. They just love to be Open.

:stupid: Especially on a Turbo setup. And especially if you ever plan on doing anything more with it.
Jonathan, nothing but friendly input of personal preference and knowledge going on here so please don't take it personally. We all have our own ideas of things should be, but your .02 is just as appreciated as the next guys. Please continue.

Omg false alarm.....I hope. Turns out the fuel dizzy was way too rich. Im assuming that when I put the load on the alt, it would be too much for the engine. Whats weird is that everything else including the fan wouldnt kill it

how are you tuning the CIS? Might be time to have a CIS tech tune it properly.

Good. I want to see what kind of #s this puts down. Will give me an idea of what to expect.
