Hows the water/air cooler setup coming, will you be able to add ice to it if you wanted?

Honestly, if you want to make the res able to hold ice, that's great. But for a daily, is totally unnecessary. Running drags, yes. I have found with my setup watching the MAT while doing a full throttle run for at least ten seconds, the temp stayed close to ambient temp and did not budge regardless. This has however made me want to question my sensors, but I will likely find it works properly. Ben, make sure the heat exchanger is up to par or well overkill and you will find the same results. I also want to move my res to the trunk to help with cooling the fluid down, not to mention adding less weight up front. I will revise when I locate my new to me tig and I can weld my fab work all myself. This is what I would advise now before you build something you'll want to change later.

Get on it brother and stop dillying with your dally. You have got to have a decent amount of time for break in and shake down before a long trip like this is for you. I say have this thing good to go 2 weeks before. I hope it all goes like clockwork for you.

Thanks guy's!

Darin, I wish I could drive it!!!! You have no idea!

John, Thanks man! I really hope it's decently quick! I am sooooo ready to drive the dang thing already! :D

Dave, I know it's totally un-needed to be able to run ice in the reservoir, but sense I am at it, I will make the opening big enough for ice, that way I can pack it full if I really really wanted to (I will add a screen so that ice chunks to make it to the pump). Also, for my set-up I am doing some experimenting with a stock 90 AUX radiator as the heat exchanger. I hope it works well. :)

JonathanL, It's coming along. I still need to weld up a reservoir box for it and order a pump. Other than that, it should be ready to go. :)

The stock aux rad that came on my car is what I used at first. It is not up to par unfortunately. It could not keep up with the heat generated from the turbo. Btdt.

Looks hot Ben. I have to pick out one thing though. That oil feed line on the turbo, can you route it away from the EM and DP? Maybe towards the front instead? Pretty much anything in that area not 100% metal will turn to magma. BTDT.

Thanks Jim! I am planning on wrapping the DP and sleeving the oil feed line so it doesn't melt down. It's about 2" too short to wrap around the fender side because I apparently don't know how to read a tape measure.

JT4K: Thanks man! I can't wait to drive it!!! Getting soooooo dang close.

Thanks Val! I did have a blinker/fog set up for it that looked OEM, but during the install I knocked them off of a counter and the glass shattered into a million pieces. :barf:

Also, have you looked into custom aluminum radiators for your heat issues?

Ya, a meet would be great! As for my heating issues, I am going to see how stock copper core rads work out. As I understand it, copper is a lot more effective at heat transfer. This isn't to say, I'm not going to change it, but I want to get it running first and if I have problems with it running too hot I will change it up. Also, along with the heating issues, I eventually will do a aluminium heat exchanger for the AWIC. Hopefully my current set up works for now.

LOL...The 4k is going crappy. I went to Pick n Pull today to get some 90Q struts to finish up my 5 lug swap and various other parts(it was half off this weekend), I got to the yard, go to the row they say the car is in and nothing is there. I look around just in time to see the car get dropped into the crusher!!! :frustrated: :frustrated:

Things have just been going this way with the car, I think its cursed! I don't think its gonna make it to BBQ. :(

Looks like your on track though, hopefully you'll get a couple weeks with it runnin to get it dialed in (build up confidence for the long trip!).

We shall see! I am not 100% on for BBQ at this point. :( I know I will have it running in time, but I don't know if I will be confident in it enough for a long trip yet. I don't want to put my self in the position where I have to rent a u-hual to get it home. HAHA So are you going to bring down the 200 again?
