Keep that progress progressing and you will hit that magic date no doubt. For your intake/throttle cable you need one of those bearings with the plastic wheel on it like what others have. You can get em at true value. Maybe just weld a nut on the intake and then it will screw on?

I just got off the phone with D and he gave me a bit of good advice with it. I am going to mount it to the IM or TB some how, in my original thought process I hadn't considered engine movement to be a problem (which it obviously is) so I won't be mounting it to the RAD support.

Have you ever stood next to a Top Alcohol rail or funny car and watched them rebuild an engine? Clearly Ben is doing it just like them

Honestly man, it's not that bad. :P Though, I have to admit, an 84 oceanic would be mighty sexy. :)

It looks good Ben. You really aren't that far away....just keep plugging along. You know that clean, good looking install in my Urq you saw last year? It was even dirtier than yours as it turns out.....I didn't even hone! Cleaned up, new bearings, main and head studs, rods, rings and back together. Took about a 100 miles to seat rings and at 5k miles it is a very tight engine! Heck I'm still running Derek's emergency crank ventilation system, blowby is so minimal and it has been bounced off the rev limiter way too many times to count. Your progress looks good from my computer. We will see you at BBQ.

It's not fast yet :P But soon... very soon. :)

SO More progress was made today and yesterday... and here are the pics of it :D

For starters I did the 'final fit' of my (Derracuda made) exhaust system. I had to make a couple of small changes and also added a v-band for the down pipe connection. I also started building the down pipe...

Image

Image

Just for kicks, this is what the system looks like underneath the car :)

Image

Image

I also worked out my throttle cable dilemma. Just did a bit of ace hardware engineering and welded up a couple pieces of scrap metal I had laying around...

Image

Image

Other than that, I just did a bunch of small things I have been needing to do, like reattach the front sway-bar, more wiring, and spent time running to the parts store for random ass bolts for random little bits on the car. OH and just for kicks I took a few pictures of it as I was rolling it out...

Good progress Ben. Thats exactly the part from ACE that I was talking about. Is that a Pacer I see on the lift next to your car?

That it is, a 3spd on the tree with an electric OD. Pretty cool ride IMO. About 6 months ago I rebuilt the engine in it, now it's due for front end bits and the transmission has started to make some nasty noises. OH and it's the guy's DD. :P
