Go Darin go! Looks like you are going to need an updated whp on your sig there. Better get that motor broke in before BBQ. I'm super impressed with your progress and honestly it's keeping me motivated to finish my pre-BBQ projects.

Got a note from Darin today, so I gave him a ring.... Not much left on his car now... I still have a broken motor in my car, but should be starting on it soon. I am working on my cousins 20vt 4k though tonight. We are pulling the motor down for inspection. Have some knocking coming from the bottom end, might be ring lands. We also have to replace his pressure plate. AJ was so nice to sell us a clean MC one.

Thanks Nick. I'm getting pretty excited to drive it again especially considering all the changes. The six speed will be fun, as will 25psi!

I'll probably be in the garage tomorrow morning if you want to swing by. Let me know.

Was planning on going out to speed week at bonneville tomorrow, but looks like I pushed it back to sunday, so if you wanna swing by tomorrow, we can see if we can pull the shifter off the car for you to use until you get your setup.

Tomorrow morning sounds good, I too am thinking about running out to Bonneville tomorrow sometime, but I don't know how crutch friendly it would be out there.
Send me an email at 80qtdi at gmail with directions and the time, I won't be able to help but would like to start meeting more locals.

Darin- thanks for the pictures of the plumbing, especially good since you retained AC.
Suggestion for you, since you deleted the secondary radiator, ditch the lower thermostat-hose and replace it with one for a 4KQ.

Yeah, I need to get one of those hoses.

Here is the turbo side intake plumbing. My blow off valve is on the bottom of the aluminum pipe.

Video of me driving won't be happening today. I'm working on getting the shift box in, but the linkage is going to be a bear to get back in. I'm removing the procon system that I should have removed when the transmission was out of the car. I got the driver's side off, but not the passenger. I'm going to have to disconnect the drive shaft to get access to the tunnel to get everything connected. I found fuel injector seals at O'Reiley's so I'll need to replace those as well. Not rushing this as I want to drive it for a long time, so getting everything together right is important. The wife is suggesting that I be done for the day, so I best listen.

Ok, you've had several days now to install a custom fit already tested 6spd shifter setup..... Why the slacking?

The good news is that I got the box in without any issues. You drill the top two holes and it slides right up and in. I really like this setup because you can use the full s4 linkage including the passenger side stabilizer bar.

Image

The not so good news is that in order to get that passenger side bar bolted onto the top of the transmission I will have to lower the engine/transmission to get to it. Hopefully I can drop it about an inch and get to the top of the allen bolt. There is less than a quarter inch clearance between the bolt and the tunnel right now, so I'll have to figure that out. I don't have thick hands and I could barely maneuver the linkage into place around the 01E. It would be a piece of cake if the transmission was out of the car.

WOW is not happening.
