I thought so, too. The 15% gasamaline should help out. Fifty percent more would be like straight eth, wouldn't it?

the E85 can be run leaner in standard running conditions and be fine IIRC. so really only tune it to run richer under boost and one should be able to get by not too badly

If need to put regular gas back in this thing and get it tuned in with the new injectors. I'll let everyone know what I find. Derek is right, it seems to run fine at 15:1, but on boost 12:1 works great, which makes for some pretty big gains in the upper cells on the basic map.

Hold on. I thought you had to tune by lambda only with eth because AFR is not believable anymore. So, what does 12:1 on eth actually mean, Jim?

Stoich for E85 is 9.765:1 a/f, so if your meter is calibrated to a stoch of 14.7:1, you'll certainly be off as Lambda is calcuated as a/f ratio divided by stoich.

Just yesterday we added to the 034EFI tuning software an option to change the stoich for a bunch of different fuels, so this will be built into the software on this new release 8)

Finally! "Lambda" has a meaning for me. AFR/stoich. So, an O2 sensor, sensing free oxygen in the exhaust gas, is always able to determine lambda accurately. It's the meter that would be confused because it interprets the voltage from the sensor based on 14.7:1 stoich. I am understanding. This is why Jorgen said something like "you'd better just get used to lambda numbers."

Keep improving that 034, Javad. By the time I am ready to plop dollars on the glass, it'll be perfect. :-) It's looking like E85 is for me. I have been going round and round on fuel choice, which influences my CR decision.

Sorry for the mini-hijack, Jim. The moment of lambda clarity was worth any repercussions or beat-downs I might now receive.

I'm spitting out these numbers assuming lambda 1 = 14.7 AFR on the gasoline scale. I should be using lambda, which is showing .8-.82 at WOT in the logs.

Austin,

I now have unburnt fuel vapors coming out of my breather :frustrated:

we'll be doing compression/leakdown, removing the head, etc. so we will know "what gives" on that combo... but remember that I had the boost up close to 20 and did lots of hard driving over the past year...

hell of it is, it still runs pretty good but something is wrong for sure... stand by ... should have the answer in a few days, hope to have it all better in time for Old School Quattros end of July...

I have a spare 20V head in reserve and am hoping it's a burned valve!

Define monster boost, we're running 40psi on 8.5:1 in the 80....

You'll loose any sort of decent street driving on a 6:1 motor, it'll be super lame off-boost and will take longer to get things spooled up.[/quote]

So I'm in the process of putting in AN fuel lines and it starts to rain, hard. I think it's about freaken time and keep working in my 1/2 underground parking garage. About 30 min into this I look over and a small wall of water is moving my way. WTF! I've got shit everywhere on the ground, fuel pumps, filters, tools, the car's up on jacks, yikes! Needless to say I set a record for cleanup, it was kinda like Hank running to get the fire extingusher to put the fire out under his hood. :lol:

So the car's sitting in about 4" of water, hopefully I can finish this tomorrow. :curses:
