Depends...I thought I remembered reading were some States had regulations that they had to exit either behind the rear axle or behind the passenger compartment. OEM's were excluded, think F150 Lightning and Viper R/T-10.

This is probably the least of his worries.

I've never had a problem in CO with it, the emissions guys get a little pissy because they have to monkey with it on the dyno.

hey jim let us know how cam timing changes work out for you on the dyno if you would? man, i looked at the specs and the stock cams seem kind of advanced already i wonder if there will be any usable gain by advancing them more. i would guess that if you wanted more top end that would come pretty easy though by retarding, but just speculation without the dyno info. i was going to run mine about 6 degrees advanced because of my severe block decking but after looking at the cam specs i could not bring myself to running it that way.

UPDATE!!!!

OMFG, I just found a real, solid 29 peak, 27 sustained psi of boost. I've been fighting to get the thing above 22 psi relaibly, and thought it was the POS ignition cables I re-used. Nope, I had too much plug gap. I was running .033, knocked it down to .027 and watch out! (Javad I still need those plug wires though  )

I got about three solid 2nd gear runs and one in third. I've never been in a car this fast, it's fvcking retarded!

Unfortunatly the fun ended when I just had to taste it once more. I was just rolling in second, hit the gas, boost built, then snap! I thought I broke a driveshaft, but it's something internal in the tranny. It's been getting noisy at idle lately, now it's really noisy! I was able to limp home ~1.5 miles in 1st slipping the clutch the whole way.

Here's the noise. It's a from a camera phone.

Obviously I'm still a little giddy from the new found power.

Sooooo, anyone in Denver have a 4kq 016 they want to get rid of? I'm going to try and grease the guy at the muffler store down the street to let me use the lift at night. I'm hoping I can get it done by next weekend, but it's looking bad for the dyno and auto-x.

Nice buddy! What gear? What plugs are you running? How much Dwell?

I think I still have all gears, once the car started moving again in 1st I just left it there and headed home. I'm running NGK 7 heat range plugs, standard issue for the 3B. I think dwell is 3 ms with the multiplier set at 2 for this boost range. What gap are you running?

It may be a while before I get a real good look at it, with St Patty's day and my 30th birthday this weekend, there's lots of other things I need to focus on.

Nice, 30 is a good one, congrats!

We're all (80tq, Stroker Coupe, etc) running the F6DTC's with the 1.0mmm gap, about 7MS Dwell under boost, smooth like butter ;)

Congrats on the transmission and happy birthday! It's looking like my Spring break trip isn't going to happen sadly, so I can celebrate the stupid amount of power you're making without sadness :-D .

happy 30th Jim!

Celebrate by drinking and watching audi stomp Sebring. From the short sound clips of the R10 those things should be fun to watch!

Happy birthday Jim!
I think a nice present to yourself would be a 6-speed from a B5 S4. I mean, you only turn 30 once. Except for me, I've turned 29 10 times. :-D

Well Jim, I'm quite proud!! U r doing what I expected. Today is my birthday and I am sending you the wish (with margarita and irish beer buzz) to have it to its limit. Looks like you hit one limit bound to be overcome!!! I'm not able to make my boston F1 trip because of work but am happy seeing the post none the less!!!

I understand you are looking for an 4k 016.... last resort i have a 5ktq 016. Let me know if you need it

u make me proud. I hope I make u proud with a 500 whp 5ktq avant :-D

I saw a 4kq at pullnsave in aurora, I'm headed there tomorrow ill check it out if you'd like. I don't think it would be to expensive. Id help you pull it if you give me a ride when its back in:) I have a an 84 4kq tranny but it started whining a little before I swaped it out.
