Re: TCombs UrS4: New Radiator, burnt out tail light

I did a quick look at the wiring. It all looks good, at least heading back into the cabin. All trunk wiring looks intact as far as the tail lights are concerned. I swapped the passenger side and driver's bulb sockets and they both work, so somewhere there is a wiring issue.

I decided to use my ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak again, possible rad issue

Update, as it has been awhile.

My radiator ended up biting the dust and was leaking from the drivers side end tank where it meets the core. I ordered a new one and ended up replacing it and all the hoses with a new silicon kit (eBay) with help from JCarrick, who is selling his UrS6 by the way.

I ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak again, possible rad issue

I ended up taking the wife's car home and picked up the S4 this morning. I filled the reservoir full of water checked for leaks and drove it home. Temps were fine. Now just waiting to see if it leaks or not.

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak, Voltage Regulator

Haven't posted in awhile.
Had a bit of a coolant issue today.
I was running some errands today and stopped by my wife's work. I was waiting for her to come out and pick a drink I had brought her and just sat in the car. Temps were all where they should be and it was only about 75ish degrees outside ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak, Voltage Regulator

Finally got some new IC lights in. The left side of the tach always seemed a bit dimmer. I ended up replacing most of the lights and everything is pretty uniform now. It's hard to tell from pictures though. When I first got the car I noticed that the check engine light, airbag light and some others ...

Re: Any gen2 24v Cummins guys on the forum?

Might be a little late on here, but talk to JCarrick. I'm sure a few of you might know who he is. He is on here as well as MG, or used to be. Has a Urs6 Avant, used to have a blacked out UrS4. I'll add his link to here as well.

Urs4 Headlight tab options?

As the title states, is there any aftermarket or custom made tabs for the UrS4 headlights? I think one or two of my tabs are broken and one may be missing completely and with such the headlights point more "up" than it should and I would prefer not to piss people off while I am driving behind them ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak, Voltage Regulator

Glad to hear it’s going well.

I read a few places the 034 billet checkvalves ballbearing get stuck, might be worth picking up an OEM(ish) plastic one

I thought I might have read that somewhere as well. I have one in my box, (OEM-ish, will have to check the brand), but I had spaced it and the ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak, Voltage Regulator

Nothing to exciting happened recently, just some little maintain items. I have had an intake spacer probably longer than I have had the car, if I recall correctly. Thought it would be time to throw that in. As you obviously have to take off the manifold I thought it would also be a good idea to ...

Re: Silicone Coolant hoses, worth it?

That's what I've heard as well, that the silicon 034 coolant hoses are no good and OEM is best.

Another brand that seems popular is Roose. No experience with them though.

I have seen Roose before. I just checked them out again and it looks like they only have ktis for the ABY and ADU engines ...

Silicone Coolant hoses, worth it?

Any one have an experience with the ebay silicone coolant hoses for the AAN? I think they are "G-Plus" brand.
I have been meaning to get a set of hoses and was just looking at all the different options.
I am not 100% on the current age of my hoses. Is getting a set even worth it, or should I just ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak, Voltage Regulator

Replaced the VR. Now all my lights, interior and exterior pulse, they go dim and bright non stop. I also feel like the car is idling a bit differently now. Is this normal for a new VR and just takes a bit for the "keys" to get a grove ground down in them from being flat as brand new, or did I maybe ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak, Voltage Regulator

The regulator should be here today, but on the topic of electricity related items, I feel like my battery moves around quite a bit under my seat. I'm 90% sure its the correct group size, but no matter how I position the metal brace to hold it down, it is still able to move quite a bit. It would be ...

Took the old regulator off. Compared to the new one. Not the right part. They are physically different sizes. Now I need to find the other style. ECS is selling one for $170 :shame:

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak, Voltage Regulator

The old brushes are smaller after having been used for so long. That's why it feels different installing the new regulator.

I understand they are smaller, but the regulators look physically different.
On the old one, with the brushes facing up, the brand "button" is at a 90 degree angle and no ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak.

Side note, I went to replace my voltage regulator. I did some research on QW and found the higher volt one. Went to replace it and they look different. Does the new one fit in there? I couldn't really get it to actually seat and I didn't want to force anything. The brand "button" is on a different ...

When replacing the heat control valve, is it necessary to replace the black heater hose with that little valve on top? Looks like those run $120+.

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak.

Leaking heater core or heater valve or something under the rain tray, running to drain under rain tray/heater box, and pooling on your frame rail?

Yep. Not sure if its the core. I am still getting warm air, and hot air when I need it. I think its the valve. Its leaking, down in the cowl and then ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak.

Going to take a guess and say I have more than one leak. The first picture is from this morning have the car sitting for a few days. You can see the frame is covered in dye. The second picture is from a 10min drive, or less. You can see it has pooled up in places. I honestly have no idea where its ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak.

Stupid question, I did thermostat during the T Belt. I had other stuff out of the way at that point. Isn't it just the thermostat seal for the housing? I can just replace the seal and should be good to go? With a bit of cleaning of the mating surfaces of course, however is there an "easy" way to get ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak.

So I put some dye in, let it sit over night and then drove it today. Checked it out. Looks like there is some leaking from the thermostat housing and the lower bolt. I loosened the bolt a bit to make sure there wasn't anything holding it in and then tightened it pretty good, without cracking the ...

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak.

Most of the coolant is dried up by the time I get a chance to look due to the heat. However I did see small pool, about the size of a 6mm hex bolt head under the thermostat. Maybe its leaking from there and while I am driving the wind is just blowing it all back onto the block and its drying up from ...

Have you popped off the timing belt cover? There's a chance coolant could be seeping past the water pump o-ring.

Re: TCombs UrS4, Coolant leak.

The last three pictures are kinda hard to see. There is some dried coolant to the left side of the picture where it looks like it was ...
