Man, those plugs look wild. It almost looks like FOD vs. melting stuff from detonation. That much detonation should sound absolutely horrific inside the car--like, mechanical destruction happening under load type of rattling metal noises.

Parts are on their way via no fewer than seven UPS/Fedex packages, scheduled to arrive Friday/Saturday. There is basically 0% chance all of them show up on time, so I'm taking it easy on the superhustle this week.

If any of you get the chance to meet and hang around Kirk/thequattromog, be wary. He's a great guy and super nice, but the ambition he has for projects is contagious.

Long story short, he picked up Afterthought's white '83 20vt UrQ, and I've been working to get it tuned up on VEMS. It's a really ...

I'm ready when you are! I think there is a lot left in your car from what we've spoken about, from power to fuel economy. I know you'll use it too!

2020 Update!

The Coupe provided me reliable transportation in the PNW from the time I moved my household up here in June 2019 until the end of February, 2020 when I brought the rest of my things including my Mk7 GTI up from Phoenix. Throughout almost that entire period, I was commuting back and ...

I too am excited to see how the PNW treats you, rest assured with this group there is at least someone local to any ...

Two updates in a month!?

A couple weekends ago, Jim, Micah (pra4wx) and I planned a guy's weekend mountain bike trip in Moab. Since I got back into mountain biking about a year and a half ago, Micah has been a great friend and riding buddy. If anyone is ever in Phoenix and into biking, look him up ...

Tail Light Sealing Material

Getting the Coupe ready for a cross country trip, and one thing I'm working on is keeping the exhaust smell out of the interior. When I repainted the car a couple years ago, I removed the tail lights and in the process removed/lost much of the rubber sealing material around the edges. I'm pretty ...

Re: Sam's 20vt CQ - Red and Broken

I've had a couple close calls finding good engines/blocks. Haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet. I picked up a nasty mountain biking habit that has been sucking up free time and money. Still, I've realized I almost forget what it's like to drive a super fun old Audi and it makes me really miss ...

I might be out there for a day sometime in that timeframe. I will keep you in mind and hit you up. We ...

That's common to see in a catch can, it's what you get when a lot of moisture mixes with a little oil vapor. The moisture is normal crankcase vapors.

Does 034 still sell their silcone hoses? That's what I run, zero issues with fitment or the hose leaking like some people reported issues with.

Re: 07K + slushbox?

The only autoboxes I would at all consider would be the 6spds in B7/C6 models. Everything else is fragile and shifts really slowly. Like, why bother building a strong, responsive performance engine if you're just going to connect it to a mediocre transmission. You would also need to be using an OEM ...

A little tiny piece of me hopes this isn't a sign of a death vibration like Hank talks about that breaks TT-RS cranks in half when using a single mass flywheel. Might be wise to invest in a better crank balancer? We deal with the same shit on the super lightweight Porsche stroker cranks and ...

I would've liked to get balanced but it wasn't in my budget and my *gasp* shady f#cking machinist said its pointless when you account for carbon buildup on the pistons. Idk he's probably a crackhead. Anyway I'm glad to hear an eta Chris. It'll be awesome!

Having it balanced would be nice but I think we're past that point now. Plus it seems to be a dark art lol.

I believe the engine is almost done being assembled now and will be going in next week. We have a concrete date for finishing it now which revolves around my vacation time just before ...
