Re: My long restoration of a 1983 Ur.
Have been a little delayed on this job due to other work needing to be done, like a new front door and frame prepping and painting for the house, but since thats all done now I'm almost free to get the final areas worked and I'm cautiously pencilling in a date of sometime in the coming week (weather ...

Re: My long restoration of a 1983 Ur.
Update thingy.
Wednesday saw me out of bed at 4.30am and in the cave by 5.00, finishing off some masking up that I'd started the night before in readiness to get the insides of the doors apertures, the doors, the bootlid, wings, sunroof and bonnet in colour.

Short video of some speeded up painting malarky, not entirely complete as I ran out of tape at one point and didnt get the second basecoat application on the left inner wheelwell on film.

Little update time I think.
Since I've been doing all the work on this car right from the start and since I like testing myself out, I decided to bite the bullet and paint the thing myself.
Currently I'm typing this and waiting for a call back regarding the paint I've chosen, I decided I'd rather ...

Keep your product line relatively small and aimed at producing small easy to produce parts initially but also dont restrict yourself to a single marque if at all possible, you need a little diversity to keep you going when one line either fails or slows down.

Looks like its been blast cleaned?
Dry Soda perhaps?
If its been done with anything else make sure you check the oil galleries that run either side of the head and that feed the hydros- you dont want any media left in there i can tell you!

I see what you mean now scubadave.
I found that most of the air was travelling (in your photo) towards the top left and top right of the ports, hugging the short side radius, and in the middle of the port and not much was happening elsewhere.

I have a question. i have ported a select few heads and on each I have done just what you posted to make improvements except adding material which is much too difficult. i did not back cut the valves, and that is a fantastic pointer for those who can port their own. thanks for the great info.
