Sounds like you have the basis of a great ur-q. Look forward to following the

I am in the process of swapping a Coupe GT 85+ wiring loom in to my '83 ur-q.
Biggest issue is getting an un-cut Coupe GT loom and then you have to remove
most of the interior to install it, and cut/enlarge ...

I did this on my 01E swap except I haven't drilled out the upper bore, as you recommend down ~1/4 inch. It works as is but
to my calibrated hand it is not smooth and seems to be binding slightly. Drilling out the upper bore may cure this slight binding?
