Re: Silicone Coolant hoses, worth it?

It is not so much, for me, the quality of the silicone hoses, as it is the stiffness. You really have to clamp down on them to get them to seal. If they are going on a plastic fitting, it could crack or break the fitting. The other thing is they are hard to get on over the rib in the fitting. Too ...

Re: George's ABZ'd B4 90

The throttle bodies on the ABZs, in the states, are the same for the years. I have gotten couple for parts. I don't know if it makes a difference, but the throttle bottles for the Automatics are different from the cars that came with manuals.
On automatic throttle bodies, both butterflies open at ...

Re: '84 Audi Coupe Gt grp2

OE. Using those rubber ones, you will feel you have to crank down on it, making it too tight. I would only use these if down the road, the hole for the freeze plug gets oversized or out of round.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: '84 Audi Coupe Gt grp2

They are designed for just that. Not casting.
I understand the reasons for only running water and water wetter on a track car, but if you are going to have the car standing for a while, flush it with a water/antifreeze. This will prevent freezing from happening again and it keeps the motor from ...

Re: The 90Q (07k?)

You have the vacuum booster already. CQ MCs were the largest of the era. You could get one of those and you could also use the OEM CQ brake bias regulator. I know this works with 996 323 rotors up front and UrS6 calipers 288 rotors in the rear. Running this setup for a number of years. You can check ...

Re: The Hot Mess: quattro converted + 07k swapped Coupe GT

I would like to make a suggestion. Since you are not going to have a front air supply to your radiator, I would suggest a triple pass radiator. Fluid takes the path of least resistance. If you use a single pass radiator, you will not get the full cooling effect. The fluid in the radiator will always ...

For your clutch stuff, talk to Mark Swanson at EFI Express. Even though I run a D2 S8 motor in my coupe, it uses 7A clutch and pressure plate type parts. He was able to supply me with what I needed.

As far as 6th TDI gears go, I am running a .56 6th. I love it.
Before you put the FYF box in your car, I would at least do the upgraded 1/2 gear collar.

I go by the dealer by me because they give me an employee discount. Maybe since I have been going to them since 1981.

Re: Ben's 95 90 Quattro 20vT - now with corn power!

One of the biggest problems with rebuilding brakes is getting the piston seal back on.

What I do is put the seal part way up the piston, stretch out the seal a little and put a zip tie on the upper part of the seal around the piston. Make sure the lower part of the seal sticks out past the lower ...

Re: Quattromog: Snowmageddon 2019

The car didn't actually overheat, instead the new B4 Febi coolant tank (which took 4 months to get) swelled up and the cap stopped sealing. Ended up replacing it with an old junkyard B3 unit that (so far) seems to be working. This is the 3rd or 4th coolant tank I've put in this car. I don't get it ...

Considering that VWs never got the Girling G60s, no. You may be thinking of the brakes that came on a Corrado G60. They were Girling G54s.
